Primary 2

As part of our topic 'The Great Outdoors' the boys and girls in primary 1 have been learning all about living and non-living things and life cycles.   The children explored the life cycle of a plant by planting cress seeds then making sure they had water and sunlight to grow. They also learned the different parts of a plant through a song (to the familiar tune of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes). Why don't you ask your child to sing it to check if they can remember the main parts of a plant?  Next month, once Spring is fully upon us, we hope to further explore life cycles by hatching some caterpillar eggs! The children are really enjoying their new topic. We have even transformed our role play area into a Garden Centre so that the children can consolidate their learning during our play-based sessions. 

The boys and girls at Edinbarnet were lucky enough to experience a judo taster session from a qualified and experienced trainer from IJF (International Judo Federation).    The children had lots of fun whilst learning more about the sport and some basic judo moves.  The children showed great listening and respect for the rules of judo, to ensure that they practised safely and sensibly.   For anyone wishing to develop their skills further, flyers with details of local classes were distributed in homework packs last week.

As part of our topic ‘The Great Outdoors’ primary 1 went on a Bear Hunt to the Secret Garden within our local community.  The boys and girls have been learning all about their 5 Senses and used these to explore the environment.  Thankfully we didn’t see any bears, but we did find some other living things in their habitats.  The boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves, particularly the opportunity to taste some yummy hot chocolate at the end!
