Primary 2/1 and Primary 1 love to learn through Play

Image
The boys and girls in Primary 1 and in Primary 2/1 are enjoying their free flow play experiences.   The children take part in two 1/2 hour free flow play sessions per day.  This gives them the opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of areas.  This allows the children to practice, apply and consolidate their learning from class.  It also allows the children to develop their social and play skills.

P2/1 - Making our class a safe and fun place to learn

To start our year we created a class charter.  This is where the children learn all about their rights and their responsibilities. To help us ensure we are being responsible, we came up with some rules to keep us safe and happy when we are in class. These are the same rules that we use during PATHS.  PATHS is when we learn all about our feelings.  We describe these feelings as comfortable and uncomfortable feelings.  This requires us to do lots of talking and listening.  We use these rules to help us ensure that we are all listened to and heard in a busy classroom. Here are some photos of us displaying our Class Rules: We sit with our legs in a basket We are quiet when an adult or another child is speaking We put our hand up when we want to share our thoughts and ideas We take care of each other We listen carefully to each other
