World Book Day 2019

The boys and girls in Primary 1a enjoyed celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March by dressing up as a character from their favourite book.  

This coincided with the grand opening of our newly refurbished school library where the children had the opportunity to participate in paired reading sessions with their primary 7 buddies.  The children also chose a book to borrow from the library to read at home and these can be exchanged for a new book every Friday.  

The children also took part in various other activities throughout the day including 'drop everything and read' and design a book cover competition.  It was lovely to see the boys in girls so enthusiastic about reading and I'm sure you'll agree they all looked fabulous in their costumes!

The Secret Garden

As part of our topic ‘The Great Outdoors’ primary 1 went on a Bear Hunt to the Secret Garden within our local community.  The boys and girls have been learning all about their 5 Senses and used these to explore the environment.  Thankfully we didn’t see any bears, but we did find some other living things in their habitats.  The boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves, particularly the opportunity to taste some yummy hot chocolate at the end!

P1 Teddy Bear's Picnic

The boys and girls in Primary 1 enjoyed a teddy bear's picnic with their favourite teddies to celebrate the end of our 'Great Outdoors' topic and our class assembly 'We're going on a bear hunt'. We played games, danced, enjoyed some snacks and sang the famous Teddy Bear's picnic song.
